Nun Hafucha & S-Box Encryption

Dave at Balashon notes that the hebrew letter nun originally meant snake-serpentine, as opposed to fish. In my mind, one idea often leads to another ...

As I was investigating secret codes and nonlinear cipher systems, I came across the concept of an S-box as one method of nonlinear mathematical encryption. The english letter "S" is rather serpentine-looking, so naturally, I made the connection with the "secret code" of the inverted letters nun -> the "box" of text between the two inverted letters nun in Numbers (Bamidbar 10:35-36) may be an example of an ancient "S-box".

What an incredible thought, I think.
