Nationally Recognized Trained Expert in MDS 3.0

My RAC-CT (RN Assessment Coordinator) professional certificate and pin for MDS 3.0 arrived in the mail today from AANAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators), proving that I am a nationally recognized trained expert in MDS 3.0. Replacing MDS 2.0, MDS 3.0 is the new federally mandated assessment process and standardized data system which rolls out for implementation October 1, 2010. This new process system will be used by Medicare and Medicaid to 1] calculate reimbursement rates for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries receiving skilled nursing care in skilled nursing facilities, 2] calculate quality statistics with which to compare the quality of skilled nursing care among the nation's skilled nursing facilities and 3] provide a data tool for improving quality of skilled nursing care individually within each Medicare and Medicaid certified skilled nursing facility.

Yay! I'm official.
