Elixir Of Life & The Mitzvah Of Witchcraft

ג' כסלו תשס"ט
Shamash 4

The twelfth shaman stone in my Temple Collection is the healing Unicorn Stone, Infinite (a variety of Serpentine). Infinite is known by healers as "the miracle-working stone."

Shamanic qualities of Unicorn include the transmutation of suffering and of poison. When the spirit of Unicorn has drunk of a poison water, all the water is cleansed, enabling other creatures to drink of it safely.

In terms of Torah, this stone symbolizes the transmutation of the Elixir of Death into an Elixir of Life.

Mythically, this stone has correspondence to transmutation of the illuminating poison (as in the novel Dune) to expand consciousness and unlock "Other Memory".

As a Jewish witch, this stone corresponds to the transmutation of the halachic prohibition against practising witchcraft into the mitzvah of practising witchcraft.

A Witch's Familiar

Black cats are the epitome of a witch's familiar. Embodying the feline mysteries of the Divine Eternal Feminine, they represent the archetypal qualities of grace, elegance, charm, deep insight and intuition, agility, speed, strength, ferocity, deadly claws, patience, affection, motherly protection, birth, bounty, luxuriant simple pleasure, playfulness, music and the dance of joy.

The Black Cats

Shamash 3

In continuing follow-up to the rescue of the Mackoff family from Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during the recent days of terror there, CNN reports on the rescue through eyes of the Black Cats, the commandos who carried out the rescue operations.

Inside the blacked out Taj Mahal Hotel, hallways were littered with bloodied bodies.

Thirty three hours after the assault began, Indian Army commandos decided it was time to go back in -- only to be met by terrorists firing mercilessly, throwing grenades and continuously switching positions.

The sound of gunfire ricocheted through the hotel's atrium, making it difficult to discern where shots were coming from.

Through it all, the commandos walked through pitch-black halls, trying to navigate the partially destroyed hotel without knowing the layout, according to a spokesman for the commandos.

At 6:30 a.m. local time Friday the battle with the terrorists at the Taj reached a head with a final firefight at the room where the 200 hostages were held captive, the commando, who was wearing a scarf and glasses to conceal his identity, said at a news conference.

When the gunfire ceased, commandos entered the room and freed all 200 hostages, he said.

The difficulties for the commandos -- known as the Black Cats -- were apparent from the beginning, he said.

"We did not know the layout of the hotel," the commando told reporters. "There was one person on the hotel staff who was helping to guide us around."

During the three-day assault, the attackers fired indiscriminately, but the commandos were forced to use caution.

"Let me tell you one thing," the commando said. "Within the first exchanges of fire, we could have got those terrorists but for -- there was so many hotel guests -- there were bodies all over and blood all over. And we were trying to avoid the causalities of civilians. We had to be more careful in our fighting."

A Crown Of Shoes

ב' כסלו תשס"ט
Shamash 3

In follow-up to an earlier entry regarding the Friday morning rescue of the Mackoff family, it is interesting to note that Carol Mackoff (from Illinois, my tribal state) describes the rescue of the six people in her group particularly:

They took us down a back service stairway that was very quiet. We were tiptoeing through glass and blood and discarded shoes from people who it appeared had recently died."

Interesting connections exist between the rescue of these six from Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace Hotel (pharaoh as a big house or palace), the exodus from Mitzrayim (dire straits), the Divine Feminine, the flaming sword of Gan Eden and the malach Gabriel.

With shoes on their feet, they left in haste as the night terror passed over [Shemot 12:11 and Tehillim 91:5], significantly through glass (the world of Chaos) and blood (the feminine sefirah of Binah) and discarded shoes (spellworking-prayers found in Gan Eden and described in the book, Gabriel's Palace by Howard Schwartz).

The enemy said: 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' [Shemot 15:9]

In the end, the family from Illinois survived, and the terrorists are no more.

Illinois Family Rescued From Taj Mahal Hotel

ב' כסלו תשס"ט
Shamash 3

CNN reports on an answered prayer:

Illinois Family Rescued After 48 Hours In Taj Hotel Rooms
Friday, November 28

Carol Mackoff and her family were rescued Friday morning after being trapped in their rooms in the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai for more than 48 hours.

Mackoff, her husband, sister and friend were on a three-week trip to India.

"In the beginning, we heard shots and we didn't know what was happening," she told CNN by phone. "We saw men running down our hallway and we could see through the peephole in the door -- we could see guns in their hands."

Mackoff said they received a call from hotel staffers telling them to stay away from the door and lock it. For 20 hours they sat in the dark. At one point they taped the peephole so nobody could see in.

The Chicago, Illinois, resident said the attackers rang their doorbell twice, but she and her family didn't answer.

"We locked every possible lock on the door and put heavy suitcases against it," she said. "When the explosions started and smoke filled the hallways we put towels at the bottom of the door."

She said she was told that attackers opened doors across the hallway and had thrown grenades inside.

"All we were thinking was 'Please don't try and blow this door open,'" Mackoff said.

Cauldron Of Gold Sparks

כ"ו חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 28

This morning's waking vision was simply one of a light-filled cauldron turning to pour down on me a myriad myriads of brilliantly radiating gold sparks, dancing with the heartbeat of eternal life. The brilliance of the golden sparks of light was mesmerizingly beautiful. They fell gently all around where I lay and bathed me in their brilliance.

The cauldron of golden sparks of light reminded me of the elusive pot of gold that rests at the end of a rainbow. In kabbalah, gold represents the highest level of teshuvah (return to Divine consciousness).

Witchcraft Of A Biblical Matriarch

כ"ה חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 27

In follow-up to previous entries positing that the daughter of Avraham was a witch, why wouldn't the daughter of Avraham be a witch? Her mother Sarah, a biblical matriarch, was a witch. "In the Midrash Genesis Rabbah the rabbis write that Sarah tried to use witchcraft against Hagar."

Interestingly, in another biblical incident involving Sarah, "shutting off the wombs" of rivals is a black magic fertility spell. In Vayera (Bereshit 20:18), the wombs of the women of Abimelech's house were closed up "because of Sarah" (through witchcraft). Perhaps Sarah's longstanding barrenness was somehow connected to her own use of black magic to shut up the wombs of rivals. The later births of Isaac and Avraham's daughter suggest that Sarah did teshuvah for a possibly longstanding malignant use of this kind of magic.

וְאֵלֶּה תּוֹלְדֹת יִצְחָק, בֶּן-אַבְרָהָם
And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son ... Bereshit 25:19

DovBear writes of another opinion in the Talmud, namely that:

one of the Rabbis argues that Abraham had everything, specifically he had no daughter, and therefore no worries about marring her off.

Why no daughter, did he refuse to acknowledge his daughter because she was a witch?

The Jerusalem Talmud also shares (Kiddushin 4, 11) that "the best among women practices witchcraft." Avraham's loss. She received the Torah straight away (a kefitzah haderekh) while Avraham's patriarchal line had to wait a several more generations.

Why is this important?

She received Torah straight away, while Avraham's patriarchal line of descendents had to wait several generations to receive it. The "shortening of the way" experienced by the daughter of Avraham is called a kefitzah haderekh. Alternatively, kefitzah haderekh or "shortening of the way" is called a kwisatz haderach.

Kwisatz Haderach" is the name of a prophesied messiah in Frank Herbert's fictional Dune universe. KWISATZ HADERACH: "Shortening of the Way." The origin of Kwisatz Haderach is most likely from the Hebrew language expression Kefitzat Haderech (קפיצת הדרך), which literally means "jumping of the path/road/way", and translates to "the great breakthrough" or "the big advancement." It is also similar in meaning to the Hebrew expression Kitzur Haderech (קיצור הדרך), which literally means "shortening of the path/road/way" and translates to "the short cut."

If Avraham refused to acknowledge his daughter because she is a witch, clearly, it was a big big mistake with cosmic consequences.

As I woke up this shabbat morning, I had a waking vision. It consisted of a sapphire tree of sparkling dark blue gemstone with a radiant white 5-pointed star of gemstone on top of it. The radiant light surrounding the pentagram like halos within halos within halos formed a radiant pentacle. It reminded me of both a pagan yule tree and of an exquisite dark blue star sapphire gemstone.

Googling 'star sapphire torah' for some clue as to what my waking vision might symbolize, I discovered (Hidden Torah Codes) that "many of the Jewish sages believe that the Torah was given on two star sapphire stones" and that blue sapphire crystals form the hexagonal star of David.

Consequently, my witchy vision this morning symbolizes the two stones (the blue sapphire and the white pentacle, together constructing a 'star sapphire') from which the Torah is ever given. The hexagon crystal of the blue sapphire and the pentagram of the pentacle, in my vision, unify the vav and the hei of the Tetragrammaton. The halos within halos within halos represent the Presence of yud-hei and its im hakolel within my vision. Taking it all (כל) together, my vision envisions unification of the Divine Name.

A Good Day Even Going To The Dentist

י"ח חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 20

Unbelievable day.

I finally went to the dentist this afternoon to have the back molar I had somehow split weeks ago extracted. First of all, I don't have dental insurance so I had to pay for it. Do you believe what it costs these days just to have a tooth pulled? $260! Wow. But, I had the money to pay for it. Yay!

The dentist told me I should've been a diamond cutter because my molar was split perfectly and flawlessly down the middle. It is a beautiful split, he said. LOL. The wisdom tooth coming in and pushing on it may have actually had something to do with splitting the molar, so my wisdom tooth is so wise it can cut diamonds flawlessly. Yay!

Then, the local anesthetic injections didn't really hurt much. Yay! And neither did the extraction. Double Yay!

It has now been seven hours since the extraction, the numbness has entirely left my jaw and face and you know what? I feel no pain. None. Nada, Nil. I obtained a prescription for Vicodin 'just in case' I might need it when the numbness wore off, but I totally have no pain from this. Unreal, but hey ... Yay!

No swelling or tenderness either ... even after messing around in the area to remove a piece of rice I had for dinner from the wound. Wow. Still pain free. Yay!

Following my dental appointment (with a mouth full of gauze), I went and had the locksmith make a spare key to my car, since I had taken the rest of the afternoon off 'just in case' I bled alot, which I didn't. And I now have a spare key. Yay!

Then, I changed my gauze and went to the mall to purchase a new bottle of the perfume I use, Cashmere. Yummmmm. It smells awesome! I absolutely adore this perfume. They had one bottle of the eau de parfum left - and it's mine, mine, all mine! Yay!

The weather was lovely this afternoon. I feel good. And this has been a good day. Yay!

Gavriel On Paganism

י"ח חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 20

From Yeshivat Yesodei HaTorah on Gavriel, the angel of fire:

There are numerous passages in the Talmud that associate Gavriel with control of fire. This would certainly be consistent with the fashioning of the Menorah which obviously has a lot to do with fire. A closer look at a number of Talmudic passages about Gavriel reveal another side to this angel.

The Talmud relates that when Abraham was a young man he was sentenced to death by King Nimrod for being a monotheist anti-pagan. He was thrown into a fiery furnace. It was Gavriel - the angel of fire - who saved him. (Shabbat 118a)

Yes, it is Gavriel who saves Avraham from his skewed anti-pagan agenda ...

Gavriel was the angel sent to carry out the destruction of Sodom and Gemorrah. (Bava Metzia 86b) When Tamar was wrongfully accused of harlotry by Yehudah, it was Gavriel who protected and preserved the evidence of the justice of her case. (Sotah 10a) It was Gavriel who ensured that Mordechai's saving of King Achashverosh was recorded in the King's memoirs. (Megilah 16a)

From these and other passages (see also Sanhedrin 19b, Shabbat 56b) Gavriel emerges as an angel concerned with justice. He protects the wrongfully accused from unjust punishment, punishes the truly guilty, and seeks to ensure just reward for those who deserve it. In Kabbalistic terms, Gavriel occupies the left side - associated with the attribute of gevurah, i.e. strength or judgment.

... and walks on fire with me.

The Flaw Of Pure Selflessness

י"ז חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 19

In reply to my commentary on Vayera (posted in full at LiveJournal and on Garden Of The Dark Moon Jubilee), my friend Vashtivah commented:

I realize there is a concept of going in and seeking Divine Guidance or Self that is above selfishness, but I don't think it winds up being selflessness.

I think Vashtivah is right - pure selflessness is just as spiritually destructive as pure selfishness. Perhaps the failure to stop the development of Avraham's negative chazakah at the onset was with the construct of the initial choice presented to him itself (see Deeds That Ought Not Be Done). Pure selflessness lacked the power to alter Avraham's action because selflessness, like selfishness, is ultimately flawed. This kernel of truth supports the understanding as posited in my commentary on Vayera. The point with the power to alter Avraham's action was the point oriented toward integration.

Precognitive Incident

י"ג חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 15

A peculiar thing happened today which suggests (but does not necessarily prove) an incident of precognitive perception. It is a possibility that the merchant in question read my blog entry on the dream and then decided to issue me the refund as described below (although this possibility doesn't necessarily disprove an incident of precognitive perception either).

On shabbat (a week ago), I dreamt that my purse was in danger of being stolen, yet wasn't stolen in the end.

Following this most recent shabbat, today I came upon a pleasant surprize - an addition to my checking account of $33.70 from a merchant with whom I have done business in the past year. I had had to wait an extended period of time for an expensive handcrafted item I had purchased from them months ago and they must have decided to refund to me some of the cost.

When I first discovered the odd transacted amount on Sunday when auditing my checkbook online, I had not noticed that the amount had been added to my account. When I saw an amount I hadn't charged or deposited, I immediately thought my account had been wrongly charged. Discombobulated by the unexpected, I couldn't even see the addition to my balance! I was so oblivious to it. But this morning, when I decided to check again before heading off to the bank to order a new debit/credit card and destroy the one I have, I saw that the amount had been credited and not subtracted. I could see it this morning. My checking account had not been robbed after all. On the contrary, it had been enriched by $33.70.

Anyway, a real life event this weekend has correlation with the dream I had the weekend a week ago and putatively suggests that I experienced an incident of precognitive dreaming.

In the dream, my purse was feared stolen, but then it was found not to be stolen after all. In real life, my money was feared stolen, but then it was found not to be stolen after all.

Machazeh

י"א חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 13

DovBear notes that the "word used for vision in Genesis 15:1 (machazeh) is unusual, and Aramaic. It appears only in the books of the prophets to introduce their visions."

After these things the word of the Divine came unto Abram in a vision, saying ...

This kind of vision (like the mitzvot) is "not in the heavens, that one should say, who can go up and get it for me that I may observe it" (Devarim 30:12).

Consequently, machazeh pertains to unified "spiritual" and "mundane" prophetic vision. It is not the lofty vision of Moses removed from common experience, nor the limited vision of constricted mundane consciousness - it is a synthesis of both kinds of awareness into something totally "awesome".

Like the state of yirah, machazeh has degrees of prophetic tolerance and refinement.

Fire By Night, The Divine Torch

ט' חשון תשס"ת
Phasma Priscus 11

Today marks astological Samhain, and last night I dreamt a dream of fire preceded by the idea of a "monopoly" game. Monopoly is a word which brings unity and multiplicity together into a singular word.

As the idea of a "monopoly" game ran with wings through my sleeping mind last night, the dream emerged.

I was traveling west toward town with my mother and other family members in a vehicle down the road which runs in front of the house. A few miles from the house, as we neared the bend in the road which swerves off toward the north, and exactly the moment before we entered the curve toward the north, the ground beneath the vehicle began rumbling mightily - indeed a major earthquake was in the making. The road buckled and upheaved like a wave, sending the vehicle in the opposite direction - sliding east back toward the house front first (and always I was primarily seeing through the vehicle's windshield - in other words, the vehicle was always facing the direction it was traveling).

As the vehicle slid down the road toward the east front first, the road began to glow red hot as if the core of the molten earth was coming to the surface. It glowed so brightly fire red that I wondered how the wheels and the bottom of the vehicle were remaining intact and not melting away. Surely, the road was turning into pure molten fire.

Yet, the vehicle remained intact somehow and I felt no heat at all sitting inside it, though I realized that the power of the fire was fully capable of dissolving all material substance into pure energy. The road was melting into firehot energy, and though I could clearly see it through the windshield, I felt no heat.

Then, as we arrived in front of the house, the upheaving wave of the earth shifted toward the opposite direction, sending the vehicle back again toward the west. The road glowed hotter and hotter and I felt we were surely going to be swallowed up by the molten earth, be dissolved as material beings, and die. I have never before in a dream felt the real possibility of actually dying, but last night, I did. Yet, even as I feared that I might actually die, I had no feelings of panic. My feelings and thinking were that I was facing some sort of finality, contained some wondering of what lay beyond death (would I dissolve or go on in some manner), and peace that I would die free of the heaviness of guilt, having lived an honorable life to the best of my ability. I was thinking - this is it, this is the end.

As we again neared the curve north, in front of me through the windshield I saw it - a wall of pure molten fire loomed up and we were going to plunge into it. I shut my eyes and prepared to die. As we plunged into the wall of molten fire, I woke up.

It was still night. I wrote a note of the dream down to remember and went back to sleep.

Otherworld Mystery Of The Generations

witch alder in autumn

Phasma Priscus 5

Be careful that you choose for yourselves proper individuals, and they should be members of the society who have been screened. When you come and stand before the door of the Sixth Chamber, show three seals to the guardians of the door. Show two seals to Katzpiel ... [from the text of Heikhalot Rabbati ]

Missing

Three dreams I dreamt of events concerning my purse, which in dreamspeak oftentimes symbolizes one's "identity" and material blessings. I just woke up from the third dream.

Two nights ago I dreamt - among the complexity of moving everbody's office locations around, my purse became missing. I feared it might have been stolen, because I couldn't find it. I and everyone else with me looked for it. Was there a thief among us? The question remained unanswered in the dream.

Last night I had two dreams, waking for a short time between them.

Kaphtziel, Maat's Feather, Found

First of the two, I dreamt I was going to visit another world. I packed my luggage for the trip as did a friend of mine. We went together with a group. Before we went to the station of departure to the Otherworld, we were lodged overnight in hotels. I never saw the hotel(s) where others in the group stayed. I stayed apart from the group in a separate hotel. The hotel I stayed in was exquisite and elegant. The pool area was an elegant garden, like one might find a palace garden to be. The water in the pool was sparkling clear. After resting, I rejoined the group and we continued on our way.

The trip could be fatally dangerous for one not of proper energetic alignment. It was an entirely safe trip if one's energetic structure was made of a nature aligned with that of the World to which we were going. Those of us making the trip were a small select group of people chosen because of our likelihood to survive the trip safely. We had been prepared to make it.

We went up into the skies to get to the Otherworld. We were instructed by the Navigator on how to make the jump. The jump and drop down was a most dangerous time. We were above a boundary over the Otherworld. We had to each drop as individuals through the boundary. It could shatter and tear an unprepared soul apart. Looking down from the station in the sky from which we would "drop" into the Otherworld, I saw a blanket of dense clouds. Suddenly, a path through the clouds for each of us parted and we each jumped out the door of Samhain Sabbat Shabbat.

I dropped, picking up speed and falling very fast in the greater mid portion of my descent after an initial slow fall. As I came nearer to the ground of the Otherworld, my descent steadily slowed, until I landed very gently like a feather upon the receiving station in the Otherworld.

The group gathered there and we were each met by an Otherworldy being who would escort us from the receiving station into the New World. We each gathered our luggage which had also arrived and prepared ourselves to continue on into the New World. I looked around for my purse - I hoped I hadn't lost it. Before continuing on, I searched my luggage for the presence of my purse. Opening one of my large suitcases, there was my purse safely tucked away among my clothes in my suitcase. "Thank God! Thank Goddess!" I said very quietly upon finding my purse, embracing the witch in me. I found it! One among the group of travelers and Otherworldly beings said quietly "sorry Father" after hearing me add "thank Goddess", as if apologizing for me, as if my saying "thank Goddess" had offended the Divine. He meant well, but the apology was unnecessary. The Divine has no problem at all with "thank Goddess." We came together as a group, and turned as one to step into the New World. I woke up.

The second of the two dreams last night had many connected scenes, the last two I remember.

Katzpiel, Attempted Theft

First remembered scene - my magic rug (carpet) was accepted into the game. The players on the playing field took it from me as I held it out to them through the fence behind which the spectators watched the game. They ran with it around the field holding it up like a banner. They ran the entire space of the field with it, as if my magic carpet-banner was casting a spell for our team's victory. After completing the covering run, the players brought my magic carpet-banner back to me, handing it over to me through the fence as it had been given.

Second remembered scene - as a nurse (I don't work as a staff nurse any longer at this point in my real life), I was being sent over from my home unit to help out on another unit. A male doctor observed me walk over to the other unit with my purse. When I arrived at the other unit, a female doctor was sitting at the nurse's station while the regular nurses of the unit were preparing to work their shift. I asked where I could lock up my purse while I helped them out. The nurses pointed to the rows of lockers along the concrete wall. One of the nurses said to me, "you can put your purse in one of the lockers." There were many open and available lockers, but none of them had a lock. The nurses and the female doctor wanted me to put my purse into an unlockable locker and go out onto the floor and work. I wasn't going to do it. "I need somewhere where I can lock up my purse while I work,", I said. I was told there were no locks here for me to use with which to secure my purse. They were "pushy", trying to make me leave my purse unsecured. They rolled their eyes and became agitated with me, trying to make me think I was being paranoid as opposed to being responsible for wanting to secure my purse in unfamiliar and unsecured public surroundings. When I refused to put my purse in an unsecured location, they became subtly but clearly hateful toward me. They were angry that I would not leave my purse where it could be stolen. I knew then that someone there wanted to steal my purse and as a group, were trying to make me feel to be the unreasonable one for expecting to be able to lock up my purse. They also tried to make me feel to be a failure as nurse because of my reluctance to go to work (and help them and the patients out) without first securing my purse while in the public place. I told them I was going back to my home unit to get the lock off my own personal locker because I wasn't going to work there with my purse unsecured as I worked. I turned and walked away with my purse in hand.

I woke up.

Last evening before going to bed on Samhain night, I performed a divination using the Hidden Path. The Triformis card was drawn. Symbolism of this card includes:

The number 3 - corresponding to the three purse dreams, containing for me the trifold message of lost, found and attempted theft of my purse (symbolizing identity of soul and material blessings).

One key in the card hangs from the Goddess's left arm, symbolizing the Core Principle from which all mysteries originate, and the role of the Divine Feminine as gatekeeper to and revealer of the mysteries. The key of the card confirms that the attempted theft of my "identity" was foiled. I have the key and my purse is secure.

The lunar crown of the Goddess, worn upon her forehead in the card, symbolizes the Unified Nature of the Triangle of Manifestation. As such, the crown of the Goddess corresponds to the Worlds of Emanated Manifestation (Atzilut, Beriyah and Yetzirah - including the origin of the Keter/Da'at-Malchut of Assiyah in Ateret Hayesod) and the World of Unified Nature (Kadmon) united in completeness (Unity throughout Multiplicity). Kadmon contains "three general levels of Divine Essence in life." Within the physical vessel of the witch herself rests the Malchut of Malchut, and through her the Malchuyot of all Worlds are United.

I wore one of my crowns and went as the witch that I am to work yesterday for Samhain. It was great fun!

The three purse dreams are the three seals. The two dreams occurring on Samhain, where the second dream of Samhain during the Torah portion of Noah, consists of two remembered scenes (two by two) are the two seals.

Dare to be true to yourself.
