Lenny asked an interesting question: "Why is wisdom associated with the female?"
I'm sure there are many answers. One answer that comes immediately to mind is that Wisdom (Chochmah) is "situated" on the right (masculine) pillar of "the array" of the sefirot. For a man to come to Wisdom (as a movement from the material toward the divine), he must go through Binah, which is situated on the left (feminine) pillar of the array of the sefirot. Binah (in the upward movement of the material toward toward the divine) is encountered first prior to Chochmah (Wisdom). Yet, Chochmah and Binah (Wisdom and Understanding) are "two companions who never part".
Consequently, a man's wisdom is not revealed without first going through a "companion" association with the feminine energy; and wisdom therefore, for a man, wears a "female" face. In other words, his masculine wisdom is behind (protected by and revealed through) the female face which covers it.
