כ"ד בסיון תשס"ז
In follow-up to a previous entry, Dominion Over The Land, for the upcoming parashah (Korach), we read (Bamidbar 17:11) that Moshe stopped the plague using incense. Rashi (Shabbat 89a) comments:
When Moshe ascended to heaven to receive the Torah, each of the ministering angels, even the Angel of Death, taught him a secret. The Angel of Death's lesson was that the incense can check a plague.
The people had maligned the service of incense, saying that it had caused the deaths of Nadab and Avihu as well as Korach's followers. G-d said, therefore, "Let them see that the incense is not lethal. To the contrary, it will stop the plague; it is sin that is deadly" (Rashi to v. 13). [Reference: Artscroll Chumash]
With respect to my dream, chapter 17 continues (verses 12 and 13):
And Aaron took as Moses spoke, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people; and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.
And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
