Last night I dreamt.

I was touring Breezee Tower (a tall business building now deserted in my hometown) for an apartment on the upper floor. The halls of the building were busy with people - though deserted in real life, it was not deserted in my dream, but was in use for both business (lower floors) and apartments (upper floor).

The upper floor of the building was also haunted by ghosts. Most people were afraid of the ghosts, but I wasn't. I talked to the ghosts in conversation whenever approached by one.

There was a table in the middle of a side hallway. As I approached the table, I started to dance around the table (like one does at Simchat Torah) and chant a chant made up of words I had not ever learned before. I didn't understand many of the words released from my mouth, but someone at the table recognized them as an archaic specialized dialect of ancient Hebrew that very few people knew. It was a specialized ritual form of Hebrew. Some of the words I myself recognized - for example, Torah was pronounced as a construction of Tarah (tar sounding something like car, ah sounding like ahh - like in haftarah). I knew in my mind the word Tarah was Torah, but an ancient pronunciation of it.

I woke up.

A Woman Named Moshee

In follow-up to my previous entries (Garden Of The Dark Moon Jubilee and Sidhe Moon Of Black Fire Atop White Fire ), a few things I've decided ...

The new Crone Name I've chosen for myself is משי (Moshee), a form of Moshe (משה, Moses). Typically a masculine name, I've nevertheless chosen the name Moshee for myself for two reasons.

First, Sidhe is pronounced "shee". The prefix letter mem ('m') of mo-shee, means "from". This ties to the second entry linked above and to bringing to awareness the Torah Nistar (hidden Torah) discussed in that entry.

Second, the Hebrew name Moshe (Moses) is actually a feminine name. Moshe (pronounced with a short "eh" sound at the end), the greatest prophet of Jewish tradition and he who first received the Torah at Sinai, was a man with a feminine name. It fits then that to receive the magical-mystical Torah I am to share, as a woman, I will take a masculine form of the name.

My Crone Name is hereby Moshee. As Moshee, I'm going to write a book, a magical-mystical commentary on the Torah from the unique perspective of a shamanic Jewitch. The Crone's book of magical Torah commentary I will write is hereby given the title -

Garden Of The Dark Moon Jubilee

It will be Torah commentary unlike any other! It will be pure magic!

Fire In The Sky

Driving to work this morning on the interstate heading east, the sky was full of grey clouds. Yet, for a few minutes, 3 sunbeams broke through, joined at the base, radiating outward, forming a fiery letter shin across the horizon of the entire sky. It was an amazing sight to behold.

As I observed the fiery chariot (ש) with 3 horses (ו), Elisha's experience of Eliyahu's ascension came to mind. I felt like Elisha.

From the JewishVirtualLibrary on Eliyahu and Elisha:

Given his career as a prophet, it should not be surprising that it should end in a miraculous way. When Elijah returned from his sojourn in the desert he ran across a young man plowing a field named Elisha. He took Elisha under his wing to be his successor.

One day Elisha becomes aware that Elijah's time on earth is nearly over. They are walking together and, when they reach the Jordan River, Elijah strikes the water with his cloak and the river parts to allow them to cross. Later, the prophet asks Elisha what he can do for him before he goes and Elisha asks for "a double portion of your spirit."

Elijah replies that it is a difficult request, but "If you see me as I am being taken from you, this will be granted to you; if not, it will not" (2:9-10). Then a fiery chariot, drawn by fiery horses, comes out of the sky and takes Elijah away to the heavens. Elisha picks up the cloak Elijah dropped and strikes it against the river, causing the waters again to separate. Seeing this, Elijah's followers proclaim, "Elijah's spirit now rests on Elisha" (2:15).

Without a doubt, one of my Hebrew names is clearly confirmed to me to be Elishaba (אלישבע).
