The Sabbats - HaSabbatot
ה' באב תשס״ט
Lughnasadh 6
The mystery of sabbat sabbatot and the high holy days emerge from the Divine Feminine.
Sabbatu, Women's Magic and Sacred Time
The word sabbat (שבת) is derived from the Babylonian word sabbatu, meaning 'heart's rest' and refers to the bleeding (menstrual) time when women's Goddess magic was particularly potent. In Hebrew tradition, Goddess is called the shabbat queen. The Hebrew letter ש can be vocalized as either 's' (שׂ) or 'sh' (שׁ). In Hebrew, the plural of sabbat/shabbat is sabbatot/shabbatot (שבתות). Interestingly, sabbatu spelled in Hebrew is שבתו. Ending with the Hebrew letter of connection, namely vav (ו), sabbatu itself carries and connects together all the sabbatot.
Lunar Sabbats and Earth Shabbats, Power Points of Feminine Power in Time
In ancient times, Babylonians called the four quarter days of the lunar cycle - the new, first, full and last quarter, one of which occurred about every seven days - sabbats. The modern weekly shabbat day of rest is fixed at every seven days. The sabbatot focus otherworldly (lunar-stellar) time, the shabbatot focus earthly time.
Stellar Sabbats, Points and Apices of Feminine Power in Time on the Earth
Through the feminine power of the lunar cycle, the masculine solar cycle of the year was designated and astrologically brought into alignment with the four feminine quarter days of the natural stellar cycle - the solstices and the equinoxes - the oldest holy days known to humanity. Ancient ritual observances of the quarter days can be found worldwide, from the ancient pyramids of Egypt to the cliff-wall dwellings of the Anasazi. The quarter days of the stellar cycle are the 'Lesser Sabbats' or 'Low Holy Days' of Witchcraft. The Lesser Sabbats are Ostara (spring equinox), Litha (summer solstice), Mabon (autumn equinox) and Yule (winter solstice).
The solstices and equinoxes are times of longest and shortest nights and of longest and shortest days of the year. While these days are days of imbalance in the masculine solar cycle, they are days of feminine lunar power.
The days of balance (equinimity) in the solar cycle are days in the masculine solar cycle between the powerful lunar points of the quarter days and form apices of feminine power between the feminine lunar power points - these are the cross-quarter days of the stellar cycle brought down to earth as 'earthly power points' for women's magic. The cross-quarter days of the stellar cycle are the 'Greater Sabbats' or 'High Holy Days' of Witchcraft. The Greater Sabbats are Imbolc (between Yule and Ostara), Beltane (between Ostara and Litha), Lughnasadh (between Litha and Mabon) and Samhain (between Mabon and Yule).
The Greater Sabbat of Lughnasadh is upcoming on the horizon here in the northern hemisphere of the earth. Lughnasash is traditionally observed on August 1, and astrologically observed this year on August 6-7. The Greater Sabbat of Imbolc is upcoming for those located in the southern hemisphere of the earth.
May all our שבתות be blessed with revealed good! So mote it be! אמן

Three Spirals Of Understanding
ה' באב תשס״ט
Lughnasadh 6
In follow-up to an earlier entry (Mystery of the Half-Blood Princess), there are three interesting spirals of understanding to be found in the analysis of the three Hebrew words which came out of that entry, namely:
foal - סיחן
horse - סוס
donkey - חמור
First spiral of understanding - The three words are a triplet of the Divine Feminine. These words are Torah of the triple spiral Goddess.
Second spiral of understanding - While the root (סוס) of the Hebrew word for horse means to 'move quickly', the root (סוח) for the Hebrew word for foal means to 'move slowly'. Before one may safely move quickly, one must first learn to move slowly and to progressively control moving quickly.
Third spiral of understanding - While סוס moves quickly, both סיחן and חמור move slowly. Moving quickly is balanced, surrounded and protected by moving slowly. This is the essence of circlecasting. The high-energy magic-making which goes on inside a witch's circle is protected at both the undifferentiated (nonspecific foal which can be either a horse or donkey) and differentiated (raw material substance) levels of reality. The consciousness of a witch's circle may differentiate into whatever is required to protect that which is inside.

Goddess In The Office
כ' בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 21
This video is just too cute! Women need "magic in the office" and there is definitely magic in mine - a crystal ball, a small spiral Goddess figure, a black cat Bastet statue, an elegant crystal point hanging window prism, a protection mini spell bottle, a small red mojo bag, a tiny hanging besom, and the soft tinkling music of electronic windchimes grace my space. I love my little office! I really do. I am so thankful for the ability to do this in my workspace!

Secret Magic Tale
י"ט בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 20
I watched a most exquisitely magical tale last evening. It was so very well done and heartwarming - The Secret of Roan Inish. The face, expressions and spunkiness of the little girl Fiona in the film make her a twin of my eldest grandson Tyler.
Amazon review of the film, The Secret of Roan Inish, by Jeff Shannon:
As one of the most respected American independent filmmakers, John Sayles has created a body of work as distinguished in its diversity as for its consistent quality and inspiring originality. He's never been one to march to the commercial beat, but chooses instead to follow his creative impulse wherever it leads him. The Secret of Roan Inish led Sayles to the beautiful and moody West Coast of Ireland; it is a tale of a girl who discovers that her family has been touched by myth and magic throughout the years. Following the death of her mother, young Fiona (Jeni Courtney) is sent to live with her grandparents on the Irish coast across from Roan Inish, the island where her family once lived. She's told stories about the selkies--seals that can turn into humans--who have been connected with Fiona's family over the ages. At first she's not sure if the selkies are real or mythological, but she later realizes that they hold the key to reclaiming her family heritage.
What's remarkable about this film (which Sayles adapted from Rosalie Fry's novel Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry) is that it's not told as a cute fantasy for children, but as a straightforward, unsentimental story of a young girl's family history. That gives the film--which was beautifully photographed by master cinematographer Haskell Wexler--an understated charm that is completely absorbing in its atmosphere and subtle tone. There's magic as well, to be sure--you could almost swear that the seals and seagulls in the film took direction from Sayles as well as any human actor! --Jeff Shannon
I highly recommend this pagan-friendly, beautifully heartwarming, magically enchanting film which plays to the beat of a different drum.

Wookey Hole Looking To Hire A Witch
ט"ו בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 16
A cool job for the right witch:
The witch job that earns £50,000
A Job Centre is advertising a "witch" vacancy with tourist site Wookey Hole, in Somerset, for £50,000 a year.
The witch, who has to live in the site's caves, is expected to teach witchcraft and magic.
Wookey Hole staff say the role is straightforward: live in the cave, be a witch and do the things witches do.
The advert for the post, placed in the local press as well as job centres, says applicants must be able to cackle and cannot be allergic to cats.
The job has come up after the previous witch retired from the role.
"We are witchless at the moment so we need to get the role filled as soon as possible," said Daniel Medley from the tourist destination.

The Transmutation Task Of Transition
י"ב בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 13
In follow-up to Giant Tube Worms Of The Deep Sea, it emerges that these deep sea worms who dwell near hydrothermal vents not only mediate the alchemical transition from novice seeing to high-vibrational seeing, they also mediate the alchemical transmutation of sulfur (גפרית) into nourishment (הזנה).
Thus, the alchemical task which moves one from the status of novice seer into master in training is the task of transmuting hot explosive emotion, a potentially lethal yet necessary component of life, into a vital raw material which sustains life.
Most seers cannot do it. Most are destroyed by the sulfur-rich fire and brimstone environment where the transition occurs. Thank Goddess, I was not!
The giant tube worm who came to me is a totem animal. It came to mark completion of my transition from novice seer to master in training.
Giant Tube Worms Of The Deep Sea
י"ב בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 13
After posting today's earlier entries, I decided to take a break from my computer to watch a little television. I turned on the television, flipping the channel to PBS. The documentary was discussing deep ocean giant tube worms. In light of my dream last night (Wind Of The Willow), I watched the discussion about deep sea giant tube worms.
Giant deep sea tube worms live around hydrothermal vents called black smokers. Adult worms have no mouth or digestive tract, grow up to 8 feet in length, dwell within a hard chitin shell, have a bright red hemoglobin plume, and live in the absence of light at depths over 5000 feet. They live in symbiotic relationship with billions of bacteria taken inside into the worm via a temporary mouth each has before reaching adulthood. The worms also have no eyes and sense via vibrations and movement.
A creature who senses through vibration, with no eyes with which to see, it is interesting that my dream reports of a deep sea big worm-like creature who is responsible for the deaths of novice seers who are transitioning from seeing into seeing from within the context of a high vibrational state.

Wind Of The Willow
י"ב בתמוז תשס״ט
Faunus 13
Last night before retiring for bed, I drew an Ogham divination card to read the energy in the atmosphere. That card was Willow, the fid saille. Associated with Goddess, the mistress of the mysteries, the moon, water, protection on deep journeys into the underworld, the power of binding, the harp, music, honey and mead, knowledge of time and proper timing, poetry and psalmistry, harmony, ancestral communication, dreaming, seership, understanding, and all that is feminine, saille has four steps to the right of the stemline (druim).
I dreamt.
I was among a small group of individuals who had been gathered together for the purpose of being moved around in the world as a matter of protection. We were loaded onto an airplane and flown 'above it' and 'out of harm's way'. The scene had the feeling of high level otherworldly espionage - those from whom we kept safely away were not of the normative human world, but of the mystical hidden world. Those of us flown to safety were masters in training. There were only a very few of us in the entire world.
Once we landed, we all went our separate ways, each of us accompanied by a pair of masters who had already crossed the fuzzy liminal line which distinguished novices from masters. The masters of protection worked in pairs. I had a pair watching over me, a master in training.
The liminal line that few novices survived (to become masters in training) was the place of beginning seership. At the place of beginning seership, a seer's eyes were opened to see the hidden but had not yet come to understanding. Seership at this level was literally fascinating - one became mesmerized by her or his visions and gazed into them with innocent curiosity in the effort to gain a clearer view of the vision. There was nothing inherently wrong with the novice doing this. The problem with doing this was that a deathly trap had been deliberately woven into the very act of doing it by ... by this ancient Creator Creature of the Deep Sea.
Each evolving seer had a trap woven since the beginning of creation into her or his budding power of seership. As soon as the person began to see, the act of seeing triggered a shift in the reality around the seer such a lethal lazerbeam was generated that the novice seer could not see. The lazerbeam was drawn from the seer's own sight, to focus specifically and directly on the seer, to kill her or him. A novice seer, though able to see a little bit into deeper reality, couldn't see deep enough to see the lazerbeam focused on to kill the novice seer. Only a master seer could see it.
From a set aside place in reality, I saw the lazerbeam focused on to kill me the first time I began to see. I also saw the pair of masters charged to protect me push me out of its path such that I had not been killed. From there, they had been teaching me to see it and how to avoid its lethal touch, as my seership developed into understanding. As novice seership evolved to include understanding, the lethal lazerbeam would no longer exist because a master seer's mind was so fast and moved at such a high vibration as to make the lazerbeam nothing by default before it became anything. Nevertheless, very few in the world ever survived the liminal line where the lazerbeam operated, where novice seers were either destroyed or lived on to become masters in training.
The Creator Creature in the Deep Sea was a masculine force in a silent Deep Sea. It appeared as a big worm-like fish. I saw it emerge from the hidden depths, and it spoke to me in defense of its killing of seers, saying thus, "I am the Creator Who brought All into being. I Create and I can Take Away."
"What a chutzpahdik little fish," I thought. On the one hand, I understood that in some manner it was the Creator. On the other hand, I understood that despite that it may be the Creator (in terms of Bringing Forth energy), it was still a fish Creature in the Deep Sea. The Deep Sea in which it existed had remained silent in the stillness following its boast. Something perturbed me about this silence.
The Sea is a feminine energy. Now, while the masculine Creator fish had spoken, the Sea he was dwelling in had remained silent. I saw and understood my own power.
I woke up.
"No!" I spoke with the Voice of the Wind of the Willow to the little Creator fish Creature, "you don't have the Authority to Take Away. The power of Destruction is a Female Authority."
Simply walk four steps in the complex Land on the left with a Voice Who Speaks. It is.
Deep.
